The brief

Turn a windowless 900 sq ft room off an office corridor on Park Street, Kolkata, into a luxury Japanese izakaya people long to come back to.

What we did

Concept, interior design, lighting and services integration, 3D design and walkthrough film

  • found the idea in the site: the curved wall, completed, closes into a circle
  • concept Tsuki (the moon): a 2.4 m moon over the counter that follows the real lunar phase
  • the corridor turned into a lantern-lit Kyoto lane
  • 17 seats: counter, gold-screen lounge, long bench, standing smoking room
  • services hidden in timber lattices and joinery
  • Japan meets Bengal: a kantha curtain, Bankura bell metal
  • 3D design, walkthrough film
